Jack Clarkson, 87, passed away at Spartanburg Regional Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012.
Mr. Clarkson was born and raised in the Pittsburg, Pa. area, where he graduated from the University of Pittsburg, met his wife and started their family. He served two tours of duty in the Air Force and spent his career working for GTE Sylvania as an industrial engineer and corporate manager.
Jack and Marilyn Clarkson retired to Seabrook Island, S.C. in 1980 and then moved to Tryon Estates in 2004. They were members of Congregational Church in Tryon. Mr. Clarkson was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening in his later years of retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn; two sons, Thomas of Charlottesville, Va. and Robert of Syracuse, N.Y.; two grandchildren and a great-grandson. Mr. Clarkson was preceded in death by his brother, David, of Stroudsburg, Pa.
A memorial service in honor of Mr. Clarkson is being planned at Tryon Estates.
