Ad costs, political manipulation

Published 6:21pm Tuesday, October 2, 2012

To the Editor:
The identification of people who are behind political advertising is very important. Yet the multiple full page ads from someone who uses the term “Liberty” are being printed in the Tryon Daily Bulletin without further identification. Citizens should know who is willing to spend such large sums of money to manipulate our upcoming election. A full-page ad in the Tryon Daily Bulletin costs $283.93.
The owner of the domain name for the “Liberty” website is William Day. (You can Google “Who is” with the name of the website to confirm this.) William Day was a contributor of $200 to Tom Pack’s campaign in the 2010 election. Tom Pack is one of the current Republican candidates.
And they don’t even need to list the ad expenditures in campaign finance reports.
