Barbara Ann Toomey

Barbara Ann Toomey, 83, of Mill Spring, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Hospice of Rutherford County.  She was born in Quincy, Mass. She was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Shortle and widow of Albert (Bud) Toomey, who passed in 1998. Mrs. Toomey was a homemaker and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City, N.C. Mrs. Toomey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Burnedett Toomey of Jupiter, Fla.; two sons, Michael Toomey (Sharon) of Mill Spring and Paul Toomey (Sherry) of Wilmington, N.C.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Toomey, in 1994.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City, N.C.
