Runners at last year’s Ache Around the Lake. The seventh annual Ache Around the Lake 8K race will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 at Lake Lanier. The Ache has become known as one of the “biggest little races” on the upstate S.C. and western N.C. running race circuit, boasting mountain and lake views and a challenging USAT&F-certified course. For less ambitious participants, there is also a 2-mile Ouch course, which is considered a fun run and is not USATF-certified. The Ache and the Ouch both start together on Butter Street. Registration will be at the Tryon Antique Mall parking lot from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on race day. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Center of Behavioral Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital.
