Polk County High School recently committed to being one of 17 teams playing in the first North Carolina Passing League event at Erwin High School on June 30.
The U.S. Army Asheville Recruiting Company is sponsoring the event. Each team is guaranteed to play four games with three games in pool play and at least one game in the single-elimination championship round. As of May 23, the following teams have committed to participate along with Polk: A.C. Reynolds, Bunker Hill, Burns, Chase, East Burke, Enka, Erwin, Freedom, Madison, North Buncombe, North Henderson, Patton, Pisgah, Shelby, Swain County and T.C. Roberson.
The North Carolina Passing League is a non-contact, seven-on-seven high school football tournament that will feature teams from throughout the company’s recruiting territory in western North Carolina.  The NCPL will utilize Erwin’s turf field and a secondary natural-grass playing surface to host as many as 49 games during the single-day event.
The game features quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs and defensive backs, giving them an opportunity to sharpen their skills in a fun, competitive atmosphere.
