Jimmy Leon Scarbrough, 61, of Hooker Road in Columbus died Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum.
Born in Leveland, Texas, he was the son of the late Leonard Haynes and Anna Mae Smith Scarbrough.
Jimmy was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and had lived in Polk County since 2004, coming from South Carolina. A retired respiratory therapist, he briefly volunteered with St. Luke’s Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are: his wife, Glenda S. Scarbrough of the home; three sons, Clay Scarbrough (Lisa), John Scarbrough (Elizabeth) and Jimmy Jordan Scarbrough, all of Stony Point, N.C.; a daughter, Anna Duran (Carlos) of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Novella Creed (Earl) of Davenport, Fla.; Norma Rumbaugh (Bobby) of Tishomingo, Okla. and Linda Pike of Irving, Texas. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and Dolly, Callie and Pete, his furry friends.
Private memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 12 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dean Elliott officiating.
