Body of 39-year-old man found in wooded area of Campobello

Authorities in Spartanburg County have identified a body found late yesterday afternoon in a wooded area off of Old Asheville Highway in Campobello. The body was identified as that of  Fred Wayne Ramsey, 39 of 207 Jared Michael Ct., Inman, S.C.

Evidence collected on the scene has prompted investigators to now classify the investigation as a homicide investigation. The details of what was found on the scene has not been released. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for later today.

A jogger fund Ramsey’s body around 4 p.m. Friday, April 13 near the intersection of Asheville Highway and Old Asheville Highway. Campobello Police Chief McNeill soon after asked for assistance from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office

Investigators worked the crime scene throughout the night and returned this morning to look over the scene further in the daylight.
